This cost-conscious reconfiguration of the rear of a post-war duplex restores access northern light, connection to outdoors and provides essential living space, all within a small footprint. In maintaining much of the existing walls to service spaces to reduce costs, the design detail minimises the sense of enclosure to keep the focus on the outdoors.
