ONE HEART INTERNATIONAL DESIGN COMPETITION
Unbuilt, collaboration with Robert Chittleborough and Fiona Lew
One of the ten shortlisted entries internationally for the One Heart Foundation, our masterplan proposal for a rural Kenyan children’s village negotiated the complex brief requirements to invite community engagement throughout the site. The project involved the holistic planning of the following facilities: primary and secondary school, community skills centre, sports field and sports centres, administration offices, farm, workshops, boarding houses and four children’s homes.
The focus of the village is on creating a vibrant and inclusive community hub. The benefits are reciprocal; the children who live in the village forge strong connections to their community to aid them in adult life, the farm find a market for their goods, and the community enjoys access to great facilities for continued learning, recreation and culture.
