This cost-conscious reconfiguring of the rear of a post-war duplex restores access to northern light and connection to the outdoors and provides essential living (breathing) space for a growing family. The additional building footprint was only one room, but it has a transformative effect on the liveability of the house.
Simple framed openings expand the experience of the outdoors and brick utilised the skills of the bricklayer owner. A separate studio space linked via a deck also provided a flexible space to for work or pleasure.
